Main menu: "
Edit | Select | Word
" option can be used to select the word at the cursor.
Mouse: Double clicking while the cursor is at the end of a word highlights it.
Answer 2. Keyboard Shortcut
The following steps can be used to assign the "Edit | Select | Word
" main menu option to a keyboard shortcut such as "Ctrl+Shift+W".
- Select "
Tools | Customize | Customize Keyboard Shortcuts
" from the main menu.
- Click the "
Add
" button.
- Press a key (such as "Ctrl+Shift+W") or pick a key from the drop-down menu under the "
Shortcut Key
" field.
- Click the "
Menu command
" radio button.
- Select "MSelectWord" from the drop-down list.
- Click the "
Add
" button.
- Click the "
OK
" button to close the "Shortcut Key
" dialog.
- Click the "
OK
" button to close the "Keyboard Shortcuts
" customization dialog.
Pressing "
Ctrl+Shift+W" (or the assigned keyboard shortcut) will now invoke the "
Edit | Select | Word
" main menu option.
Answer 3. Optional Plugin
hkSelectText plugin can be used to add the following ways to select words:
- Button click,
- Right click menu, and
- Actions Bar drop-down menu.
HTML-Kit provides several built-in options for selecting text and tags on the Edit menu. This plugin makes it possible to access these options using the Right Click Menu and the Actions Bar.
